Journey of Faith

But Ruth said (to Naomi): "Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Ruth 1:16,22a

Like Ruth, I have come from a people who were ignorant with idol worship that followed blindly religious culture and traditions before them. Not to mention survival of self was a matter of daily struggle for the women before me. My journey similar to Ruth’s -- I was born into the most unlikely circumstances and my future already deemed insignificant. Yet, God Himself has called me out from among them.

“Daughter of the King of kings, Priest, Redeemer, Sanctifier, and The Alpha and Omega—come out from among them to serve and speak My truth.”

He did so with Ruth as well, to carry a seed of greatness -- Obed, her son with Boaz, who begat Jesse and Jesse begat David. This connection in history and time was God’s reward for her devotion to Him and following His commandments wholeheartedly—secondary to that being a woman of excellent character who made wise choices.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

"The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David." Matthew 1

If you too have had an unlikely beginning as an orphan or with a single parent, exposed to idolatry, substance, alcohol or sexual abuse, dealt with oppression, religious intimidation, or introduced or dabbled in cult activity or witchcraft—I have great news for you.

Regardless of your lot in life currently, your beginning, or the middle riddled with mistakes and missteps, if you humble yourself and surrender to drink from the Living Well – Jesus Christ – He promises you will never thirst again. Furthermore, when you are intentional like Ruth to take the first step in God’s direction no matter the situation or the unlikelihood of caring seeds of greatness, God will respond with grace and loving-kindness. He will show Himself faithful in your circumstances as you journey from out among multitudes of idolatry and sin that keeps you bound and tangled in the devil’s den.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

I have walked with God and have surrendered to His call and subsequent promotions in the ministry, resolving that I too will fulfill the destiny He has set out for me specifically and uniquely.

What about your God-given destiny?

It all comes down to a decision -- are you willing to stop making excuses and take heed to the emptiness you feel within that only He can fill.

I confess:
Walking with the Lord is more peaceful than money in the bank.
Communion with the Lord is better than an hour with your therapist.
Filled with His glory is better than storehouses filled with earthly treasures or riches.
Healed in your emotions is better than numbing your pain with sex, drugs and rock-n-roll.
A re-birth of your God-created spirit is better than the notion of going through life more than once.
Doing it God's way is blessed and better than trying to do it all by yourself with a mess trailed behind.
Keeping your mind on Him assures you of joy-filled days.
Being ready and available for His service is better than any surprise gift, visit or party.

O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your anointed. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand (elsewhere). I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who
trusts in You! Psalm 84:9-12
